Service for Gypsy
Gypsy Friedlander, 60, passed away on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at Goodman Brown Hospice Residence. Gypsy was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 27, 1953.
She attended Hawthorne Cedar Knolls in New York. She was a workers compensation examiner for New York City until she retired on disability due to depression. Her real passion was in the interest based social organizations she facilitated and contributed to, such as the NYC Laurell K Hamilton meetup, Buffy and Angel meetups, the NYC Easterenders meetup, and a meetup for people who attended Hawthorne Cedar Knolls during the 60's, and especially the Browncoats. She was a fervent atheist.
She was survived by her son Eric Kamander, and his wife, Aviva, and her grandchildren Eason and Andrea.
The service was held at Fred D. Knapp and Son Funeral Home in Greenwich, CT. It was attended by family and friends and friends of family. Many people spoke of their unique experiences and relationship with Gypsy. The service was followed by the burial at Temple Sholom Cemetery. She was buried next to her parents and sister in section A, row 1, plot 59. We played Ballad of Serenity as she was buried and her friends sang along.

In The City With Family
I got together with family from all over. We went to Carnegie Deli for lunch. Then we went to Ripley’s Believe It or Not! We took Harrison to see the Statue of Liberty from Battery Park and then we went to dinner at ABC Chinese Restaurant.
